My Background
I love the piano and I love working with children! I was taught using the the Suzuki piano method for 9 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music (concentration in Piano) from the University of Texas where I studied under Dr. Betty Mallard. After college, I was a music director for Covenant Presbyterian Church in Orlando, Florida. I taught a wonderful studio of students in Austin, Texas for a couple of years and have just recently moved to Dallas. If you would like any references, please just ask.
My Style of Teaching
I prefer using the Suzuki Piano method. This is a piano method that focuses on ear training. It trains a student to learn to play music through repetitive listening. However, I also work with children to learn or continue to learn how to read music as this is also an important skill. I teach at beginning and intermediate levels. My primary focuses are on ear training, theory, technique and sight-reading. Music is a beautiful and fun discipline and so I try to make each lesson an enjoyable yet challenging experience for the student.
Rates
I charge $25/half-hour. For some intermediate students, I may want to do longer lessons. Fees are due at the beginning of each month.
Location and Times
I teach out of my home in Irving, Texas. I do not travel to people’s homes to teach. Please contact me for current availability.
